New Workshop Manager

24/10/23  Introducing Andrew Irvine…

EXPERIENCE AT TURNER GROUNDSCARE

Andy is no stranger to us having spent the last 6 months in a field service role within Turner Groundscare, a role he has taken on with a assured capability and friendly approachable demeanour.

As a hardworking and skilled field service Technician he has built strong relationships with our team and more importantly our valued customers.

I sat down with him for a quick chat to find out more about his past experience, background in the Industry and what plans/ key objectives he will be prioritising in his new Job role.

PAST EXPERIENCE

Q: Could you tell us a little bit about your background and Industry experience

Andy-I began working as an Automotive Mechanic at Verons Garage in Heswall, carrying out servicing and repairs, this involved fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems by using computer-based diagnostic equipment. I also learned the valuable skill of how to build and maintain a solid and transparent customer relationship.

My next rewarding role was as an Army sergeant, I performed the role as a skilled engineering manager for 14 years across a vast variety of platforms.

this involved 10 years of management and leadership, I enjoyed the challenge of performing to the highest standards and encouraging a team to deliver above and beyond the required tasks.

Prior to joining Turner Groundscare I worked in Fleet management, diagnosis, and repair of over 100 mechanical platforms including plant equipment, generators, HGVs, trailers, and class 2 vehicles. Managing a 35-person strong workshop with a vast variety of vehicles, ensuring processes and policies were done correctly.

I then joined the Turner team 6 months ago for an intensive 6-month field service familiarisation roll building relations with the companies’ customers.

NEW JOB ROLE

Q: What have you learned from your past experiences that you will bring to this role?

Andy-My past experiences of running fast flowing, high pressure workshops and various managerial taskings have given me the ability to plan, perform, and provide a strong team output whilst ensuring the team is included and supported within their roles.

Q: What plans/ key objectives are you prioritising in your New Job role?

Andy-My plans are to improve customer relations, workshop morale, and workshop facilities. Communication is key, having good communication channels within the workshop will help with the smooth running of the workshop and customer experience.

We all wish you Luck in your New Role. Congratulations!
